Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald and Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton have publicly addressed a past dispute stemming from the 2024 season ahead of their matchup on Thursday. According to CBS NFL and Yahoo NFL, the issue originated from allegations of cheating following Seattle's 26-20 win over Denver in Week 1 of 2024. Macdonald stated during a recent interview that Payton was not his biggest fan after Denver raised concerns about defensive calls during that game. [1][4]

CBS NFL reported that Macdonald recalled the Seahawks' defense successfully anticipating Denver's offense during his head-coaching debut in 2024, forcing three turnovers. Payton subsequently accused Seattle of improper actions, leading to tensions between the two head coaches. Yahoo NFL reported that Payton recently reaffirmed that his relationship with Macdonald is now settled, while Macdonald confirmed both coaches have moved on from the matter. [1][4]

Macdonald was hired as head coach of the Seahawks in 2024 after serving as the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens. He led Seattle to a victory in Super Bowl LX against the New England Patriots in his second season in charge. [13]

The Seahawks visit the Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High to open Week 6 of the NFL season. According to Yahoo Sports Top, the game is scheduled for Thursday night at 8:15 PM ET on Prime Video. [5][6]
