NFL hearing officer Derrick Brooks has reduced Los Angeles Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson's suspension from two games to one following an appeal, ProFootballTalk and Yahoo Sports reported. Jackson was suspended for punching Buffalo Bills edge rusher Bradley Chubb following the Rams' 37-34 overtime loss to the Bills at SoFi Stadium. [1][3][4][8][10]

The initial two-game suspension came after Jackson struck Chubb on the field after the Week 5 game, according to Yahoo Sports. ProFootballTalk reported that Jackson earns a base salary of $16.822 million, meaning the reduced one-game ban will cost him $934,555 in lost pay instead of double that amount. [1][3]

Jackson signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2021 after playing college football for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Hearing officer Brooks played 14 NFL seasons as a linebacker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014. [13][14][17]

The reduced sentence means Jackson will miss Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals, ProFootballTalk and Yahoo Sports reported. Yahoo Sports added that the Rams plan to play David Quessenberry at left tackle in Jackson's absence. [1][2][4][7]
