Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton stated that he does not expect cornerbacks Patrick Surtain II and Pat Bryant to be placed on injured reserve. Yahoo NFL and ProFootballTalk both reported that both players sustained ankle injuries during Sunday's loss to the San Francisco 49ers. [1][2]

Placing a player on injured reserve requires a minimum four-game absence. Addressing media speculation regarding potential injured reserve designations, Payton said that is jumping way ahead and added that he does not think that will happen. ProFootballTalk reported that the Broncos can delay any official roster transaction decisions until Saturday. [2]

Newsday reported via an Associated Press source that the ankle injuries to Surtain and Bryant are less serious than initially feared. Surtain was selected ninth overall in the 2021 NFL draft out of Alabama, where he won a national championship, while Bryant was selected by Denver in the third round of the 2025 NFL draft out of Illinois. [9][11][13]

In other organizational news following the Week 4 contest, San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw received an $11,941 fine from the NFL, according to Yahoo Sports. The fine stemmed from taunting and actions directed toward the Denver sideline during the game. [4]
