Las Vegas Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak announced on Wednesday that running back Ashton Jeanty will play in Sunday's Week 6 game against the Buffalo Bills. Yahoo NFL, ProFootballTalk, and Yahoo Sports all reported that Kubiak directly refuted reports claiming the organization was considering sitting the running back to allow his injuries to heal. According to ProFootballTalk, Kubiak responded to questions regarding internal discussions about resting Jeanty with a two-word answer: "He's playing." [1][2][3][4][5][8][11]

ProFootballTalk reported that Jeanty originally injured his ankle during training camp before adding a foot injury to his Week 5 injury report. He was limited in practice last Thursday and did not participate in practice last Friday. Despite being a game-time decision, Jeanty logged 32 of 60 snaps and recorded 10 carries for 27 yards in his previous outing. [2]

Jeanty was selected sixth overall by the Raiders in the 2025 NFL draft after earning All-American honors at Boise State, where he won the Maxwell and Doak Walker Awards and finished as the Heisman Trophy runner-up in 2024. Kubiak is in his first season as head coach of the Raiders after serving as the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks in 2025. [13][14]

The decision keeps Jeanty in the lineup as Las Vegas prepares for its Week 6 matchup against Buffalo. Yahoo Sports reported that the team is looking for a strong performance from Jeanty as he works through lingering physical issues during his early professional season. [2][3]
