San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk filed for reinstatement from the team left squad list this week, according to reports from ProFootballTalk and Yahoo Sports. The outlets reported that Aiyuk is expected to arrive at the San Francisco facility on Friday to begin resuming his football career. [1][2][3][4]

General Manager John Lynch described the situation as fluid and stated that everything is possible regarding Aiyuk's future with the franchise, Yahoo Sports reported. ProFootballTalk noted that once Aiyuk is officially reinstated, the 49ers will decide between keeping him on the active roster, trading him, or releasing him, with release viewed as the most likely outcome. [1][3][4][10][12]

Aiyuk played college football for Sierra College and Arizona State before being selected by the 49ers in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft. During the 2023 season, he led San Francisco with 1,342 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, earning Associated Press Second-Team All-Pro honors. He spent the current season on the team's reserve list after filing for reinstatement this week. [4][14][17]

Lynch also addressed additional roster health issues on Thursday. Yahoo Sports reported that Lynch ruled out receivers Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel, while casting doubt on Evans' availability for the upcoming game against the Raiders due to stubborn Achilles tendinitis. [6][7][11]
