Fourth-ranked Indiana defeated Minnesota 23-16 in overtime on Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana. Yahoo College Football and The New York Times reported that both teams exchanged late 60-yard field goals in the fourth quarter before Indiana secured the victory in overtime. Minnesota had taken the lead with a 60-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter, but Indiana answered with a 60-yard field goal of its own to force extra time. [1][4][6][11]

Indiana made a change at quarterback at halftime while trailing Minnesota. Reports from Yahoo Sports, 247Sports, and On3 confirmed that seventh-year quarterback Grant Wilson came in to replace starter Josh Hoover to begin the second half. Hoover had been deemed available before the game despite battling injuries, but he was replaced after taking a hit on an interception late in the first half. [2][3][4][5][8][9][12]

The Associated Press reported that Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti did not state whether Hoover was pulled specifically because of an injury or due to performance issues. Hoover had struggled during the first half as Indiana faced offensive difficulties for the fourth consecutive week. Wilson took over the offense for the remainder of the game to guide Indiana to the win. [2][4][5]

The victory preserved Indiana's undefeated status during its Homecoming game. Yahoo College Football reported that the Indiana defense delivered a strong performance to keep the team in position to complete the comeback. [1]
