Florida State parted ways with head football coach Mike Norvell on Sunday, according to reports by Yahoo College Football, Yahoo Sports Top, and USA Today. Yahoo College Football and Yahoo Sports Top reported that Norvell compiled a 41-39 record over seven seasons leading the Seminoles program. [2][3][4][7]

Former Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher has emerged as a potential candidate for the opening and is openly interested in returning to Tallahassee, according to Yahoo College Football and The New York Times. Fisher led Florida State to an 83-23 record with three ACC championships and a national title before accepting the head coaching position at Texas A&M, CBS College Football reported. [1][3][11][14][16]

Fisher served as Texas A&M head coach from 2018 until 2023, according to biographical records. CBS College Football and Yahoo College Football both noted that Fisher's massive buyout from Texas A&M provides a financial incentive for a potential hire. [1][2][4][14]

Florida State's 2027 recruiting class currently has 14 committed players, according to Yahoo Sports Top. The program previously defeated Virginia 38 to 7 to reach a 3-2 record earlier in the season, as FTMQ Sports reported earlier. [5][17]
