The UCF Knights defeated the second ranked BYU Cougars 39-31 in double overtime on Saturday at the Bounce House in Orlando. CBS College Football and Yahoo Sports both reported that the victory marked the first win against an AP Top 5 team in UCF program history. The game ended after UCF made a goal-line stand on fourth down to stop BYU in the second overtime period. [1][2][3][4][5]

According to CBS College Football, backup quarterback Keyone Jenkins accounted for four touchdowns during the game for UCF. In the second overtime, UCF originally settled for a field goal, but a roughing the kicker penalty gave the Knights a first-and-goal from the four-yard line. Jenkins then completed a touchdown pass to extend the lead before the defense held BYU short of the goal line. [2]

Yahoo Sports reported that official penalties dominated the final minutes of regulation and overtime before UCF fans stormed the field. Yahoo College Football noted that Scott Frost serves as the head coach for UCF. Prior to the game, Yahoo College Football reported that UCF suffered a setback to its running back depth when Taevion Swint was ruled out, leaving Duke Watson to lead the ground attack. [1][5][6]

According to Yahoo College Football, second ranked BYU entered the game following an upset win over then second ranked Notre Dame. The loss dropped BYU's record and prevented the team from reaching an 8-0 start for the season. [2][3][4]
