South Carolina edge rusher Dylan Stewart returned to team activities on October 5 after serving a one-game suspension, according to CBS Sports and Yahoo College Football. The Southeastern Conference suspended Stewart for punching an Alabama player during a September 26 game. He is currently on track to play this Saturday against Florida if his progress continues. Head coach Shane Beamer also placed Stewart on an indefinite suspension following the incident, as CBS Sports reported. Beamer stated that Stewart attended an 8 a.m. team meeting and practiced on October 5. However, Beamer noted that the player's game status remains subject to ongoing evaluation. [1][2]

Stewart plays defensive end for the South Carolina Gamecocks. South Carolina enters Saturday's matchup against No. 16 Florida with a 2-3 overall record and an 0-3 record in SEC play, according to Yahoo College Football. [6][13]

Florida comes into the contest following a loss to Missouri, Yahoo College Football reported. Florida head coach Jon Sumrall addressed the press on October 5 as both teams prepare for the homecoming game in Gainesville. [3][6]
