Bukayo Saka came off the bench to score a goal and assist another in Arsenal's 3-0 Champions League win over Lille on Tuesday. BBC Sport and Yahoo Sports both reported that the forward entered the match after recovering from an illness and provided the assist for Eberechi Eze to make it 2-0 before scoring the third goal himself. [1][2]

The performance came after Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta publicly challenged the 25-year-old winger to increase his goal scoring. BBC Sport and Yahoo Sports both reported that Arteta set a target for Saka to aim for two or three goals per match, demanding higher output despite his strong start to the campaign. Saka has now recorded four goals in nine matches across all competitions this season. [1][2][4]

Arsenal entered the fixture dealing with multiple roster changes. Yahoo Sports reported that Arteta confirmed Piero Hincapié and Martín Zubimendi were ruled out of the Lille match after suffering ankle injuries in their prior match on Saturday. However, defender William Saliba was able to return to training ahead of the fixture. [3]

Arsenal are competing in their 40th European campaign during the 2025, 26 season. Arteta, who formerly captained Arsenal to FA Cup victories in 2014 and 2015 before taking over as manager in 2019, continues to push for success in both domestic and European competitions. [10][11]
