Former England fast bowler James Anderson is in talks to join Surrey and continue his county cricket career, according to Sky Sports News, The Guardian, and inkl. BBC Sport, Yahoo Sports, and The Telegraph also report that Surrey is a potential destination for the bowler following his exit from Lancashire. The Times reported that Anderson is close to joining the county side. [1][2][3][4][6][7][8]

Anderson left Lancashire after the county chose not to offer him a new contract, ending a spell that began 25 years ago when he first played professionally for the club. BBC Sport and Sky Sports News reported that he had served as Lancashire captain and took 50 wickets during his final season. Sky Sports News noted that the 44-year-old was released in October, a decision he described as leaving him sad and shocked. [1][3]

The bowler has not yet retired from cricket. BBC Sport reported that Anderson stated on his Tailenders podcast that he was excited about the future and considering playing cricket again. A number of clubs from both divisions of the County Championship expressed an interest in speaking with the seamer after his departure from Lancashire became public. [1][3]

Anderson is England's all-time leading wicket-taker, as noted by BBC Sport. Yahoo Sports reported that he played 188 Test matches during his international career, claiming 704 wickets. [1][2]
