Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Christian Mbilli both made weight on Friday for their WBC super middleweight championship bout scheduled for Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Yahoo Sports reported that Alvarez weighed in at 167.6 pounds, while Mbilli came in at 168 pounds. The fight will take place at Kingdom Arena as part of an event promoted as "Mexico vs. The World," according to Yahoo Sports and MMA Fighting. [3][4][5][7][8]

The bout marks the first time Alvarez has entered the ring in 13 months, Yahoo Sports reported. Alvarez last fought in September 2025, losing a decision to Terence Crawford. MMA Fighting noted that Saturday's contest will be the 69th fight of Alvarez's professional career. [1][4][5]

Mbilli, a 31-year-old undefeated fighter, holds the WBC super middleweight championship, CBS Sports reported. Mbilli captured the interim WBC belt by knocking out Maciej Sulecki in the first round of their June 2025 fight. He was elevated from interim to full champion after Crawford chose to retire following his victory over Alvarez, according to CBS Sports. [1]

The weigh-in was followed by a calm final faceoff between the two fighters, Yahoo Sports reported. Oddsmakers favor Alvarez to win the championship match despite Mbilli's undefeated record and knockout power, according to CBS Sports. [1][3]
